Attn: Office employees, meme lovers, coffee refillers, et all.
(BCC: CEOs, micromanagers, and hovering HR-types),
It has come to my attention that a certain je-ne-sais-quoi has come over the office. Overworked and underpaid employees wallow in the pits of the break room, afraid to take their mandatory 10-minute break for fear of getting behind on something as arbitrary as a spreadsheet. Believe it or not, office work may seem like it needs your urgent attention, but when you're the workaholic who runs the show, works unappreciated OT, and keeps everything on track for the tenured lazybones in the cubicles surrounding you, perhaps it's time to take a step back.
I've been there–I was the one answering phones, printing paperwork, making copies, sending emails, and fielding clients. It all feels like fun and games on your first day as your fingers clack the keys of your keyboard and your ice coffee drips rings on your custom desk coaster, but the moment you realize that the C-levels, the higher-ups, and even the bickering bats in HR are riding the coattails of your hard work, it's tough to balance your workplace disappointment and your menial paycheck. Because in an office, it's all about work, laughs, and balance, right?
So circle back on your own bandwidth and take stock of your LOLs. Perhaps the spreadsheets can wait a moment while you refuel and recharge your good humor with memes. Thank you for your time.
Best Regards,
