Memorial Day weekend is full of great deals to check out, whether you're on the lookout for something techy or are hoping to find some good game deals. Best Switch Deals Today
Memorial Day lands on Monday, May 27 this year. While the start of Memorial Day sales varies by retailer, most will start up in the week leading up to it. Places like Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon are all worth keeping an eye on for those early starts.
It's worth noting that some of these retailers have memberships that offer early access to sale events, which is a great thing to keep in mind. Walmart is set to have a big Memorial Day sale, so it could be worth checking out a Walmart+ membership which offers early access to sale events (and has a 30-day free trial that'd line up perfectly with Memorial Day weekend). You can also get some great bonuses when you sign up right now, including Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for two months for free, a three-month trial of YouTube Premium for free, five months of Apple Music for free, and more! While there isn't any confirmation that there will be early access this time around, it's certainly worth keeping an eye on.
There are quite a few different Nintendo-related deals that pop up around Memorial Day weekend. Based on last year, Switch Pro Controllers popped up with a great discount as did select SD cards and, of course, there were plenty of deals on Switch games. We'll make sure to update this properly when the sale rolls around with our favorite Nintendo Switch deals as they appear, but if you're itching to see what's discounted in the meantime, you can always check out our roundup of the best Nintendo Switch deals to see what's currently available.
While some retailers will only keep Memorial Day sales live through the weekend, there are some who will extend it a few days after the actual holiday. It's worth checking in at your retailer of choice, as they usually have a notice stating when these sales will be coming to an end so you can keep it in mind while shopping around.
The beauty of Summertime is that there are so many different sale events for people to check out. If you're looking for more exciting discounts in the realm of games, you won't have to wait too long at all after Memorial Day. Quite a few deals begin to appear again around the time of Summer of Gaming events, such as IGN Live and Summer Game Fest. This year, IGN Live will run from June 7-9 in LA and SGF's big livestream event will kick off on June 7 at 2pm PT/5pm ET/10pm GMT. Around this time we'll start to see several games go on sale as well. Usually, each platform's store will hold their own respective sale event during this time, and we've got our eyes locked on the Nintendo eShop to see what they've got up their sleeve.
Another big sale event that'll start up not long after the dust of SGF has settled is Amazon Prime Day. This is one of the biggest shopping events of the year for those who have an Amazon Prime membership, and one that will be chock-full of exciting Nintendo Switch deals. If you happened to have missed a good deal over Memorial Day weekend, it's worth coming back around on Prime Day to see if it's dropped in price again.
If you want to see even more gaming deals outside of Nintendo, make sure to have a look at our roundups of the best PS5 deals, the best Xbox deals, and the best PC video game deals. You can also check out our Daily Deals roundup for the latest and greatest discounts in a variety of areas, from tech to games to movies.
