It's been said before with more panache, but the sentiment never gets old: it's overwhelming how we are expected to stay healthy, keep on top of chores, create and maintain relationships, have hobbies, and still work a minimum of 7 to 8 hours, five days a week. The rare occasion that I somehow tick all of these boxes in one day, I feel like I'm Superwoman (and I'm also probably not getting enough sleep). It shouldn't be this unmanageable, but tell that to the people whose one dream in life is maximizing shareholder value.
The upside of all this is that if some of the time we spend at work is pointless, we get to fill it with fun procrastination activities when the boss isn't looking. One of the most appropriate of these has to be work memes. We can try to define them as a job-related task of sorts.
