Back in the day, you could buy a pair of well-made shoes and they'd last you a decade. Even though it was the 70s and 80s and you put those reliable sneakers to the test, they'd still have your back after years of riding your bike off of homemade ramps, climbing every tree, and racing the local kids to the corner store to spend a quarter on a whole bag of some gummy bears. These days, you just look at something wrong and it falls apart…
Nothing's made well like it used to be.
Craftsmanship has really gone out the window too. We're all making watermarks on Ikea furniture and as the spackle-board dissolves under our drink, grandma's old armoire stands mightily in the corner, having survived 2 floods, a house fire, and a category 3 tornado. Just like the people from those decades, products were made sturdy and strong in the 70s and 80s, which is why we look back at our younger years with rose-colored glasses.
When everything around you is falling apart, reminisce on the strength and security of that bygone era–the epitome of toughness was born in those groovy days.
