We take it for granted, but being able to cook is a kind of magical skill. Those that have the ability to take a few storecupboard ingredients and some scraps from the back of the fridge and turn it into a tasty family dinner are a very valuable people to have around.
However, as the saying goes, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. When we have the good fortune of tasting a culinary masterpiece, we have to appreciate that this almost always comes off the back of plenty of practice and trial and error.
