Everyone knows you shouldn't propose on your partner's big day. You are a bad guy if you propose to your girlfriend at your brother's wedding. If you propose at your girlfriend's mother's funeral, you are simultaneously a bad guy and a bad guy with a creatively sinister mind. If you propose at your girlfriend's law school graduation, you're making a pretty bad decision. Only so many "big days" come up in our lives, and if you're trying to double up on them, you're undermining the original purpose of that big day. You can easily propose a month after graduations, weddings, or Christmases, and it would make the experience so much better. While there might be some people who would love their partners to propose to them on their graduation day (like people who don't really care much about the proper ceremony), this law school graduate was not one of them.
